ROOTED IN
TRADITION
PURE
CULTURE
CARIBBEAN
SOUL
We bring the bold, authentic island flavors of Jamaica to the Pacific Northwest, serving food that’s rooted in tradition, culture, and pure Caribbean soul.
Our business is all about sharing the warmth of Jamaican hospitality through dishes crafted with real spices, slow-cooked techniques, and the unmistakable aromas of the islands. From jerk chicken sizzling on the grill to rich curries, savory stews, and fresh island-inspired sides, we create meals that transport people straight to Jamaica—no plane ticket required.
Whether we’re catering an event, serving from our pop-ups, or preparing food in our commissary kitchen, our mission is simple: deliver unforgettable flavor, celebrate Jamaican culture, and make every guest feel like family.

About
My name is Carla Berg
A little about me, Carla…
Born and raised in the lush parish of Saint James, Jamaica, my love for food and community began long before Jamaica Mi Hungry Kitchen ever hit the road. Growing up surrounded by the aromas of slow‑simmered stews, fresh herbs, and the rhythm of island life, I learned early on from my wonderful grandma (Mama was what we all called her) that food was more than sustenance, it was a way to bring people together, to share stories, and to celebrate culture. Growing up very poor, I didn’t have much but the community was a family and what food we had, it was shared by all.
After immigrating to the United States, I carried those flavors and traditions with me, blending them with new experiences and opportunities. Following high school, I joined the United States Army, where discipline, leadership, and teamwork became second nature. It was during my military journey that I met my husband, Rick, who shared my commitment to service and adventure. Together, we built a life rooted in love, resilience, and purpose, and a love for food and travel. Our shared military background shaped the foundation of Jamaica Mi Hungry Kitchen… a business built on integrity, hard work, and the joy of serving others. After nearly 28 years of marriage, our partnership continues to thrive not only in life but in business, where every plate served reflects the same dedication and pride we brought to our military careers.
Family remains at the heart of everything that I do. My two children have grown up surrounded by the warmth of Jamaican hospitality and the spirit of entrepreneurship. If you visit the truck, you’ll likely be greeted by our daughter Kamryn, whose bright smile and friendly energy make every customer feel like family. She’s the next generation carrying forward the legacy…one order at a time.
For me, Jamaica Mi Hungry Kitchen is more than a food truck, it’s a living tribute to my roots, my service, and my family, especially my wonderful Mama who I will forever cherish and who lives loudly in my heart! Every dish from tender oxtail simmered in rich brown gravy to spicy jerk chicken wings tells a story of home, heritage, and cooked with love. It’s a taste of Jamaica served with gratitude, love, and the unmistakable warmth of a family that believes in good food and good people.
